Well there is only one more day of 2007. Last day to relax before the work starts again. At long last the weather is good and it seems as if summer is here. Warm days and lots of sunshine look to be the order of the day. Still visiting the hospital each day and this is a big commitment but worth every minute of the time spent. Mum certainly appreciates the time we give. Need to sort things out and work at the routine tasks each day.

A Difficult Christmas
@ 2007-12-25 – 10:22:17
Why you might ask? Well despite a great deal of effort - phone calls, letters and the like Mum is in hospital over Christmas. ACC have let us down and not come to the party in any way. We required some assistance to fix up the house and make it suitable for a wheel chair and now they are not going to help. We will go and visit her at the hospital after lunch.
She was most unhappy about the situation and thinks it is our fault. apart from her mobility there is no reason why she should not be home.
I do not know how she will be when we get there today but she was very upset and not happy last night when we left.
We bought a couple of presents for her to give us and we have some stuff to give her. This however is not like a family together at Christmas. I keep thinking we must make the best if the situation and I will try to do this. I took some photos on the camera at the hospital the last few nights so hopefully we will be able to look back on this and think of how much better our future Christmas celebrations will be. -
Twelve Days to Christmas
@ 2007-12-13 – 22:41:41
Well there are now 12 days to Christmas. Very much want to have Mum home will do everything I can to try to make this happen. It will not be a good time for us if we can't do this. Will make phone calls to the appropriate people and go and talk to them. Not sure what else I can do.

Being in two places at once
@ 2007-12-12 – 14:26:28
Have you ever needed to been in two places at once? Some schools of thought say bite the bullet and say no to one and yes to the other. Yet another strategy could be to stay away from both. A third option is to divided the total time between the two. Perhaps the answer depends on the parties and people involved. I think perhaps there is no one answer and different circumstances require different solutions.

Christmas rushing in
@ 2007-12-11 – 14:34:38
Every body is in a hurry to go somewhere do something or set up a time to do it. It almost seems as if some people think the world ends on December 25. It does not... there will be life after Christmas. Sure its a great time, a fun time, a time for family and friends to get together and enjoy the experiences of the past year. But I think we could all enjoy it more with out the rush and panic that seems to set in for many people.
Lets enjoy the run up to Christmas as much as the day its self. Be calm take a big breath and just work through it one step at a time. It works I have proved it....

Mums Birthday
@ 2007-12-09 – 22:55:30
Well Mum was 91 yesterday and had her birthday in hospital. We took in a big cake that could be shared with others. We had hoped that she would be home for her birthday. It was great that here nephew and his wife came down to see her. We spent the most of the day at the hospital. Gave her a ring and a bracelet which she liked.
It is hard work at the moment. Keeping things up and traveling to the hospital daily. We now will work to see if we can get her home for Christmas. -
Where to from here?.......
@ 2007-12-05 – 15:12:04
After yesterday I wonder where to go from here. The appointment we went to see if we could get some help to bring Mum home from hospital was not all that positive. I was left with the feeling that we would get little if any assistance from ACC how ever I guess we have to wait and see.
It is the 5th of December and not the weather we normally experience at this time of the year. Where are the warm summer days?
There seems to be so much to do and so little time to do it at this time of the year. -
The Year Races Away
@ 2007-12-03 – 23:08:49
Well it is December and another year is just around the corner. This will be a year I will always remember. My mother fell and broke her leg on the sixth of May. She is 90 years old and has been in hospital ever since. I have been to the hospital every day so there has not been a lot of time for other things. We are visiting a doctor tomorrow 4th December and if all goes will hope to have her home for Christmas if not before.
Went to the supermarket last night and got a few stores and some cold and cough cures for my sister. There is a lot to do before we finish up the year and not many days to do it all. Will need to work late some nights and make good use of all available time.
As we get older I think I value time more and more and realise that each second can only be lived once. Life is too precious to waste and we need to get the most from it. I don't mean work all the time we need time out and to relax and sleep but we also need to get things done.
