The weather bomb has past us by. Thankfully although some of our towns and districts got a lot of rain and there was some flooding. The fronts faded before the reached most of the populated areas. We are please that we got a little needed rain but not anything like the rains predicted. So no clean up in our area.
Mum has been home for a week and so far has managed well she remains positive and even though the house is small and there are plenty of challenging situations she is ready to give things a go and succeeds because of her optimism and effort. I hope that if I get to be 91 I am half as good as she is.

Thunderstorms forcast
@ 2008-04-29 – 12:32:49
Thunderstorms and heavy rain are forecast for today. There has already been heavy rain and flooding as a large front moves across the North Island of New Zealand. There are two fronts coming and they are predicted to clash. Emergency services are on stand by. I have checked around the house that there are no things that can cause damage around and now we wait.

Monday rain gone
@ 2008-04-28 – 10:48:24
Well the rain seems to have gone. The forecasters say there is more to come but it is fine outside now. Well it is Monday and there is much to be done this week will need to be careful to use time well. Mum has been making a croquet blanket so this has kept her busy this week and should so so for a few more days. Waiting again to receive the draft of the argument to be presented to the review. They are to email it when the receive the update of the main file.

Rain and a change of routine
@ 2008-04-27 – 20:32:58
Although not a large quantity there has been some very heavy rain. It will not solve the problems of the recent drought but will at least help to keep the plants and trees alive. There is still cracks more that are more than two cm. wide in the lawn. Mum has been better today has had a good rest and seems relaxed and happy. It is a relief to have her home. The house is small and this limits her movement will have to work on this. She is so pleased to be home after almost a year in hospital that she is accepting of this. It has been a big change for us not to have to rush to the hospital at 3.00 pm each day. We are lucky but the journey has only just begun and there is a lot to do to make things as they should be. Did a little work in the garden but not feeling that good today.

Going well
@ 2008-04-25 – 20:31:28
We realise that it will not all be plain sailing but so far so good. Mum has coped well so far it will take time and there is still along way to go with the house just have to take it one step at a time. There is a lot of mental adjustments to be made. Almost a year away from home is a long time and it has been hard for her accept that she can not do what she could do before the accident. We need to be very supportive and try to explain this to her. There is a huge change in routine and life style for us also. She is positive and receptive and this helps a lot. despite what she has been through she is happy and optimistic about her future. For the first time in almost a year(49 weeks) we have not had to go daily, and visit Mum in hospital.

Mum is home from hospital
@ 2008-04-23 – 16:03:51
Well it is a great day for our family after more than 11 months Mum came home from hospital today. She is not as mobile as she was but can transfer with ease from her chair as she needs to. The experts said she would never walk again and would need expert care for the rest of her life but she has proved them all wrong. She is in good health and happy and positive. ACC have done nothing of any real consequence to assist her as yet --- the last review meeting is on the 28 May 2006 well over a year since the accident on the 6 May 2007.

This is now scheduled for 28 May 2008 so back to the delay and waiting mode. despite all our efforts we are still no better off.

End of Daylight Saving
@ 2008-04-06 – 21:57:53
Well daylight saving ended at midnight. Clocks are now back an hour and it seems dark and cold even though it is not. I guess the long hot summer we have enjoyed is over and the long months of winter are here, almost all the year seems to be winter here in NZ.
The grass grows and the rain comes it is not like it has been. I guess last winter was mild and I hope this coming winter will also be a mild one.

Wait
@ 2008-04-03 – 09:18:56
What does it mean to wait? Well in this situation it means to be patient, to be trusting and to feel un-empowered. There is noting I can do as the decision making is in a situation outside my control and I can have no influence or hasten it any way whatsoever. Sometimes it requires some form of escapism or to find intense tasks as a form of distraction to prevent me pondering on it.
This blog has assisted as I can let out some of the frustration by putting my thoughts down here.
Well it is cooler than it was and we have a little bit of rain with more forcast in the days ahead. The lawns are starting to grow and will need attention soon - perhaps between showers. -
The reply has come
@ 2008-04-02 – 10:45:08
After waiting since 27 February the reply has come. You would expect that this reply would be a yes or no but dispite expectations the reply was no decision has been reached. Futher to the reply the decision has been passed on to another person who has a time frame of a futher 21 days. It was disappointing and yet to some extent not suprising. It seems that some people do not want to make decisions and that seems to be par for the course. So back into the waiting mode.
