The true meaning of Christmas is the birthday of
Jesus, and what he represents and like all birthdays
we wish happiness.
Through that happiness is sharing love with family and
care for those in need.
Christmas has become to commercialised but behind all
that is those who celebrate it for its joy and strive to
keep that joy and sincerity all the time not just during
the festive season.

I am sure she's delighted with her achievement but isn't a lot of it to do with the technology being available to the athlete in the first place? I don't suppose the Africans will do as well at para-Olympics as they do at the able-bodies ones.

I have to admit that I have not been following the para-Olympics. I think it just doesn't resonate the way the real Olympics can - I don't suppose I'm alone. No-one has a childhood dream of racing in a wheelchair, and it seems odd to me for a nation to be cheering at having more disabled people on the rostrum than somewhere else.

'force people on benefits into paid work' - I don't think this is the cause Gary; the government proposals, at least, will force people on benefits into UNPAID work; i.e. workfare, community service, or work for benefits.

Very true up to a point.

However, we could be here today and gone tomorrow and know nothing about it before or after. These so called road accidents and the like are really out of hand.

Thanks. Some people seem to be able to live two life times in the time most people live one. Others are "gone by lunch time" which is a famous phrase over here in NZ. I wonder if we will ever learn to understand some of these things. Nice to hear from you ....Gary

...Hi just wanted to peek into your thinking. Time is an illusion sometimes, we think, as you eluded to, that we have all the time in the world, and we don't. I look at Tim Russert, if you are familiar with him, he was the host of "Meet the Press" on Sundays here, he died with a heart attack at 58 years old. I can remember being in the ninth grade and wishing I could be a senior, so I could wear a white cap and gown, well how many moons ago was that? So time is not what we think it is, or how long we think it is, if you are sick, it is too long, if you are happy, it is oh so short. Take care of yourself, and do stop by again.
